For a climber, a helmet is an essential item of equipment that you should always have, but sometimes you can't be bothered with a bulky helmet on the outside of your pack. This is where the Madillo comes in, the shell and the back of the Madillo fold in, reducing the helmets pack volume by an impressive 50%. The small pack size of the Madillo means it can be stowed away easily without you having to worry about a bulky helmet clunking around on the outside of your pack.

The Edelrid Madillo may fold up easily but that doesn't mean it compromises on safety. The shell of the Madillo is manufactured from high strength abrasion and impact resistant injected material. Two different foam materials provide optimum comfort and safety, EPP and EVA. EPP is used in the upper half of the shell as it provides excellent shock absorbtion, the sides are made from EVA which is softer and provides a better and more comfortable fit.

The rear panel of the Edelrid Madillo covers the back of your neck to provide more security when looking down.

The Edelrid Madillo can easily be adjusted in size, simply by pushing the rear panel once the helmet is on your head, the madillo can be conveniently be adjusted from 52 to 62 cm.
