Lorpen Trekking Expedition Polartec Overcalf Socks are designed for the toughest of expeditions - tested at 8000 metres, these socks can deal with extremely cold conditions, a high rate of perspiration and deliver comfort in restrictive climbing boots. They are great for cold weather and difficult terrain hiking.

Designed to be worn in alpine climbing boots, these socks have triple padding in areas prone to friction and pressure such as the shin, heel, toes and ball of the foot. Overcalf Socks can work with any boot as well to give you that extra comfort or even to keep you very warm in your waders, wellies or simply when you like.

Lorpen have taken these socks to a whole new level, not only with the fitted design but with the technical materials used to deliver the most efficient warmth, moisture wicking ability and durability.

Areas where there is maximum friction and perspiration are lined with Porlartec Powerdry. Moisture and high relative humidity next to the skin cause discomfort. Polartec Power Stretch prevents this by keeping the skin dry through three complementary mechanisms:

• The fabric is highly breathable and does not restrict the movement of moisture vapour
• 'Touch points' on the fabric inner surface draw off the sweat, which is wicked off the skin to the outside of the fabric, where it spreads rapidly for evaporation
• When the sweat reaches the outside of the fabric, it spreads out to many times its original surface area, enabling it to dry at least 2 times faster than cotton
