Uvex Apache 2 Variotronic LCD Ski and Snowboard Goggles feature what is a big advancement on the now familiar photochromic reactive lenses because of the sheer speed of the change of tint of the Uvex Variotronic lens using liquid crystal technology and also the amazing control you can now enjoy over the colour of the tint and the light-exclusion level of that tint.
A rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers the Variotronic system.
This system has a manual mode and an automatic mode. Using the push button you can select the tint you want – clear, blue, red or violet – and another push of the button allows you to switch between the chosen tint and clear as you wish.
Having manually chosen an appropriate tint for the conditions, you can then turn on automatic mode and the integrated light sensor will darken or lighten the tint according to the changing conditions.
So you can set the system to automatically change the lens from lighter to darker and vice versa in a split second, making this lens perfect for use in all light conditions and able to react to any sudden change of light conditions without its performance level being affected by UV radiation and temperature as can be the case with photochromic systems.
The lens of Uvex Apache 2 Variotronic LCD Ski and Snowboard Goggles has an anti-fogging coating to further enhance the quality of vision that you will benefit from. Uvex Supravision Nano technology has not only produced this fog-free performance on the inside of the lens but it has also made the lens very scratchproof lens on the outside.
A scratchproof filter integrated into the lens material protects the human eye from 100% of all harmful UV rays and blue light and the UV protection is also integrated into the frame surrounding the lens.
The Uvex blue filter in both the light and dark modes of the lens enhances visual contrast and improves the clarity of your vision even when the prevailing level of visibility is low.
The waterproof, windproof but breathable Uvex regulator membrane prevents moisture and snow from reaching the interior of the goggles.
