Petzl Tikka R+ Plus Reactive Lighting Headtorch NEW MODEL
The Petzl Tikka R+ Plus Reactive Lighting Headtorch heralds a new era in the already very highly regarded Petzl Tikka head lamp range and it is a quantum leap forward as the R+ and RXP models are the first Tikka headtorches to boast the exciting Petzl reactive lighting feature.
On the Tikka R+ Plus Headtorch, you can still choose to use the traditional constant or blinking light modes in either white light or red light.
But now you can also opt for reactive lighting. This clever function will vary the power of the light depending on the current ambient light and it will also adapt the beam pattern. The light level and pattern will adapt – all automatically! – from a focussed, intensive beam when you are looking ahead along a forest path to a wide beam of low intensity when you are checking a map in your hand before immediately readjusting when you raise your head to look back along the track.
In addition, the reactive lighting will adapt to the lighting level mode you select from the three lighting levels, maximum power, standard power and maximum autonomy.
Maximum power is obviously for when you need the highest level of illumination for searching out a particular feature or finding a lost possession, for example. Naturally, this mode uses up the power in the rechargeable lithium battery the quickest while it is selected.
Standard power provides a lower level of illumination but one which will be acceptable for most purposes such as letting you see where you are putting your feet on a trail and this mode balances power output with battery life.
Finally, the Petzl Tikka R+ Plus Reactive Lighting Headtorch has a maximum autonomy setting, which gives priority to maximising the battery life but still provides enough illumination for general purposes such as general campsite activities.
If you do run out of power from the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, you can swap to using three standard AAA batteries via an adapter (not supplied) as a back up.
