Houdini Hatches are available in six standard sizes. The Houdini Super 50 Deck Hatch is the standard hatch and is available ex-stock.
Other specifications are available for special order and are priced accordingly. These include colour polyester powder coating, matt gold, clear glass and adjustable stay arms. Chrome or polished finishes are not available.
All hatches must be fitted to a flat surface and bedded down on a good quality non-setting mastic. The outer flange is drilled and countersunk for no. 8 self-tapping screws or M5 machine screws.
Inner backing trim for the deck head is not necessarily required if the hatch can be screwed securely into the deck. If an inner backing trim is used there are three types available. For replacement hatches where an inner backing trim is required we recommend the box trim because it is easiest to fit.
The box trim is a complete unit ideal when fitting a replacement hatch. Screw self-tapping screws into the originally holes or through the deck and these will locate through the deck into the box trim in the correct position. The box trim is 10 mm thick flattened tube.
The flat trim uses M5, A2 machine screw and inter screws (capped nuts) for fixing. These screws require holes to be drilled in the correct position when fitting. The trim is 3 mm thick, is shaped and cut to fit depending on the shape of the deck head.
Installation is by experts only and for use on decks between 25 and 75 mm thick. Boats with a moulded GRP return around existing hatch holes do not require this trim. It is really used where deck cut out exceeds 25 mm in depth. The type 3 trim includes an aluminium collar to be cut to the correct deck thickness. The backing trim curves around the collar supporting it and is cut to fit. Bolt holes are drilled prior to fixing in the correct position with screws and inter screws.
