Freddy Ships Cat Model
The Freddy Ship’s Cat Model is a very attractive and lifelike model of a cat that would look great onboard any boat or at home.
Freddy is a particularly beautiful and ornamental cat with its distinctive marmalade colouring.
The original Freddy was onboard SS Hawkesdale when it was shipwrecked with a cargo of pianos in the English Channel at the start of its voyage to Australia. Freddy is said to have been rescued by an apprentice sailor.
From a long time ago in the days of wooden ships, cats had become established as very welcome additions to a ship’s crew for performing the role of rat catcher. SS Hawkesdale, however, was a steel ship, coincidentally captained by Captain Steele at the time of its sinking.
Each cat in the range of ship’s cat models has an identity tag. There is also a label attached to the underside telling of the cat’s history.
The fur is rabbit and is a by-product of Chinese sustenance food farming and the model is approximately lifesize.
