Germany is one of the largest countries in Europe and of course one of the most wealthy, underpinned by world-leading expertise in engineering, science and manufacturing. Its history and heritage been remarkably preserved, making many German towns and cities major tourist attractions.

The size of Germany means that it enjoys a wide range of natural environments, from the shores of the Baltic Sea in the north across to the sweeping German Plains and the forested uplands of central Germany and down to the Bavarian Alps.

Whilst the Germans are famous for their capacity for international travel, it is true that they have much worth visiting on their own doorstep.
