The Celestron 1.25 inch Eyepiece and Filter Kit is a very effective way to develop the potential of your compatible telescope, to develop your skills and also to increase your knowledge of the night sky.
In addition to the Barlow lens that lets you double the magnification of each eyepiece, the most popular planetary filters are included in this kit. The blue filter will reveal new details in your observation of Jupiter, for example, and you will see the polar ice caps on Mars in a whole new level of detail with a red or an orange filter.
Eyepieces: All five Plossl eyepieces can be used in any telescope with a 1.25-inch focuser. Each eyepiece features a four-element design with a 52° apparent field of view. The optics are fully multi-coated to improve light transmission and to protect the optics. The 32-mm Plossl eyepiece offers a low power, wide field view in most telescopes, the 13-mm and 17-mm focal lengths are good medium-power oculars and the 8-mm and 6-mm eyepieces provide high magnifications which are ideal for the Moon and planets, especially when viewing conditions are good.
The 2x Barlow lens doubles the magnification of any 1.25-inch eyepiece. This kit includes five eyepieces that you can use with and without the Barlow, giving you a total of 10 magnification options in total. Any other compatible 1.25-inch eyepieces you already have will also work in this Barlow, giving you even more magnification choices. Note that high magnifications do not always produce clear, sharp results, especially on evenings of poor or moderate viewing conditions so try things out to find the magnifications that are best for your telescope on any particular night.
Filters: Coloured filters can be used to bring out certain details on a planet's surface or its cloud structure. All of the planetary filters included in the 1.25-inch Eyepiece and Accessory Kit as well as the Moon filter can be used on any 1.25-inch eyepiece with compatible filter threads so they are very versatile. Just screw one onto your eyepiece of choice and slide it into the focuser.
The Moon filter is very popular as it helps block out a portion of the light the Moon sends into your eyepiece so that you can see detail better. Also try this filter when viewing Venus when it will block out enough glare for you to observe the planet's phases more easily.
Metal Case: The sturdy carry case has die-cut foam inside to protect and cushion your accessories. Store each one in its customised place when not in use for safe keeping. The case is large enough to carry a few extra accessories. Just pull out enough of the foam cubes to make a nest for your eyepiece, camera adapter etc. A tight fit is better so remove the least amount of foam possible before testing the fit as you can always remove more if you need to.
