Capstan Range Marine Brass Barometer

The Capstan Brass Barometer is part of the Capstan range of marine instruments that also includes a clock, a tide clock and a comfortmeter.

Like the other instruments in the range, the Capstan Range Marine Brass Barometer is made from unlacquered solid brass and bevelled glass.

Because it is unlacquered, the bright brass finish will be affected by the atmosphere so it is up to you if you choose to retain the initial shine by periodical polishing or if you prefer to allow the finish to slowly age with time.

The Capstan Range Marine Brass Barometer features an elegant black indicator hand and weather descriptions in a traditional font.

It has a sealed unit with an adjustment mechanism as, in addition to changes associated with weather patterns, barometric pressure also changes with altitude, decreasing the higher your altitude. It is necessary to adjust your barometer accordingly by turning the screw on the back.

A barometer should be sited with good airflow around it, not by an air-conditioning unit or heater, for example.

Dimensions

  • Back diameter: 132 mm
  • Front diameter: 124 mm
  • Glass diameter: 100 mm
  • Depth: 52 mm
