Tatonka Material Description

185T Polyester PU
The outer tent material of the Basic Line is provided on the inside with a quadruple PU coating (water column 8000 mm). This light-weight polyester material has proven its UV-resistant and color-fast properties. Because this weave cannot absorb water, it does not expand in wet conditions.
210T Taffeta Nylon
This is a tightly and finely wovenmaterial for light tent floor. Quadruple PU-coated, with a 10,000 mm water column rating.
210 Den Nylon Oxford
Lightweight, durable Oxford fabric made out of 210 Den Nylon yarn with 3 times PU coating.
210T Nylon Rip Stop
210T Nylon Rip Stop is a very lightweight cloth with fine Rip Stop optik and pleasant grip. Inside with PU-coating for a water column of 2000mm.
210 Den Nylon UV-PU

420 HD Nylon
The classic 420 denier polyamide (nylon) material is unbeatable in its uncompromising quality. It has proved itself as a good basic material in its High density (HD) grade which can be used for a variety of products. The 420 HD denier fibres provide a high level of tear-resistance and the material is water-proofed with four coats of polyurethane.
450 HD breathable/PO
Air Mesh
This is a particularly breathable three- dimensionally structured material composite. A fine mesh-weave forms the basis of the inner side, and vertically-arranged fibers provide airy spacing between the contact layer. Thanks to Air Mesh, quick-drying and plenty of refreshing circulation air is ensured in all phases of any outdoor activity. TATONKA uses Air Mesh on rucksack hip belts and for back panel padding.

Nylon Ballistic T/S
DuPont Cordura
This is the most well-known rucksack material, only the original from DuPont. It has been copied a thousand times over, but only DuPont has been able to achieve the excellent material characteristics (abrasionproof, tear resistant) and pleasant texture. The polyester threads are woven in different strenghts. TATONKA uses 1060 and 530 Den Cordura Plus. The [']Plus['] stands for double the number of filaments which ensures enormous tensile strength properties as opposed to conventional polyester.
Stainless Steel 18/8
Pots, pans and all other tableware made out of 18/8 stainless will fit to the most requests of an outdoor kitchen. 18/8 stainless steel is durable, food safe and easy to clean.
FuzzyTex
HexoTex
illumiNITE
The material from IllumiNITE is the result of a revolutionary development in reflecting material technology: sataLITE DISH. The reflectors act like a thousand tiny mirrors that work together to reflect light back to its source. The sataLITE DISH reflectors are applied to the IllumiNITE fabric so that an outline is visible in a directed beam of light, such as headlights. Car drivers immediately see the person carrying the rucksack, and know which direction the person is walking.

Laminated Mesh
Microrip 3.3
This is a polyester rip-stop material (very fine structure) - extremely light high-tech material with an interesting appearance (at first glance a glossy material, but on closer examination finely structured) and high color-brilliance. It is used for applications and light-weight rucksacks.
MicroDot 420 Den
Multipole 13/15mm
Neopren
This is an impact-resistant, water-proof and expandable laminate material with high insulating properties. It is used by TATONKA in flexible smaller items and as a helmet holder on biking rucksacks.
N/P 420HD Diamond
A diamond-shaped ripstop structure was integrated into this material in order to improve the tear growth resistance of normal 420 HD NYLON: this gives N/P 420 HD Diamond material its unique appearance. TATONKA uses this material primarily for quality gear used in demanding environments.
Silicon Nylon 6.6 RS
An extremely high an tear-resistant tent material used in our high-end series. This material's outstanding characteristics are achieved by using high-quality base material (6.6 ripstop nylon) reinforced with a multi-layer silicone coating (3 times on the outside and twice on the inside). This material id very thin but virtually impossible to tear with your bare hands.
Ortlieb System
Quick and reliable attachment capability on the one hand, for every day use as well as on tours, and the ability to remove a pannier just as easily - this is what everyone wants from a bicycle pannier. The QL-system provides the following outstanding solution: as soon as the pannier is lifted by its grip, the locking mechanism hooks automatically releases. And triggered by the weight of the pannier, the QL locking mechanism hooks also automatically engage to the carrier tube when it's time to take off again. The QL hooks can be adjusted, and can be replaced.
RhombTex
RIP-TX 1 PU Nylon
100% nylon fabric with a technical finish provided by the Rip structure. Water column 500mm, breathing properties 8000ml/m2/24h. This material is used for items of clothing where breathability matters.
RIP-TX 3 PU Nylon
100% nylon fabric with a technical finish provided by the Rip structure. Water column 2000mm, breathability 5000ml/m2/24h. This material is used for items of clothing that require a balance between water column and breathability.
Scandium light 8.88
The entire line of TATONKA high-end tents is equipped with our new Scandium light-weight tent poles. Scandium is a chemical element that is added to aluminium alloys to dramatically improve material characteristics: breaking strength is up to 20% greater than that of the conventional 7001 alloy, and Scandium poles are up to 30% lighter than the 7001 aluminium poles but are still just as strong. Flexural strength until permanent deformation is up to 8% higher than conventional flexural strength ratings, which is particularly important for tent stability in strong winds. These poles are also treated with a n extremely hard, smooth coating, ensuring a long service life and easy handling. In addition to the new material characteristics, the newly developed insert connections with tapered end pieces (swaging system) is significantly stronger and more break-resistant than conventional insert systems.
SlickTex
Spun Polyester 6.6
The 100%polyester PU-coated material is primarily distinguished by its soft touch and the matte, cotton-canvas appearance of its surface. It is used for casual lifestyle products, but still satisfies demanding requirements for tear strength, water-resistance and resistance to mildew.

Texamid 11.1 is now being used in the bottom sections of backpacks, bags and for reinforcement points.
X-PAC VX15
This high-tech 3-layer laminate material gets its striking appearance from the polyester fiber weave sandwiched bi-directionally at 30ø between the two outside layers. It's absolutely waterproof (with a water column rating of 70,000 mm) and it is outstanding strength-to-weight ratio makes X-PackTM a true high-end feature of any system.
