Saint Geran: Wooden Ship Model
The Saint Geran travelled for the first time on 11 November, 1736 to Pondicherry under the command of Captain L. Laurent Aubin Dupleyssis, then was successively placed under the command of Captain Poree De La Toche, Drake and Richard De Lamarre on trips to the West Indies.

Where appropriate, all scale ship models are constructed with hardwood using the plank-on-frame technique and built to scale using ships' drawings. The models use cotton sails and rigging and in the case of the larger vessels are suitable for use as exhibits in galleries or museums. Many models are available in Large and Small sizes with both versions offering the same level of detail.

Saint Geran: Ship's History

The Saint Geran was built and launched in L'Orient in 1736.
The Saint Geran wrecked on the north coast of Mauritius on 17 August, 1744. There were 149 men on board and only 9 were saved.
The fate of the Saint Geran inspired the French author Bernandin De Saint Pierre to write the famous novel 'Paul et Virginie'.
