The new Sonic Link gives you 120 data points (60 more than the previous version) so you can view workouts in greater detail. For advanced analysis, the new Infrared Interface system downloads information in a few seconds and tracks data in 5-, 15- or 60-s intervals. Just point your Polar heart-rate monitor at the new Infrared Interface and beam your workout into your computer.

The Infrared Interface system is more advanced but at the same time it's simpler than ever before.

Sonic Link
Polar's patented Sonic Link technology has 120 datapoints. It downloads wirelessly and faster than before. Sonic Link is an easy way to analyse and store training data on the computer. Sonic Link is used by the S410 and S52 wrist units.

Polar's new uplink allows you to upload personal settings into the S410, S510, S520, S610I, S710, S720I and S810i wrist units quickly and easily.

Measuring Power Output and Pedalling Efficiency
Cycling is co-operation between the cyclist and the bike. The Polar Power Output Sensor, optional for the Polar S720i and S710i heart-rate monitor wrist units, contains different measuring aspects that inform how the cyclist works with the bike and enables the cyclist to control the intensity of exercise. The Polar Power Output Sensor gives all the information in one single device. It combines heart-rate monitoring and power output measurement.

Together with the Polar S720i and S710i wrist units, the Power Output Sensor measures the actual, average and maximum power values. With the Power Output Sensor, you can analyse the left/right balance (the balance between the left and right foot) and Pedalling Index (which shows how even the power is distributed during one crankarm rotation). The Power Output Sensor also measures cycling speed, distance and cadence. You can easily download the data to the Polar software for further analysis.

All of the drive force of the bike is transmitted through the chain, allowing the Polar Power Output Sensor to calculate power accurately. The sensor positioned on the rear pulley works magnetically and measures the speed of the chain. The chain-stay sensor (power sensor) calculates the tension of the chain by measuring the vibration as the chain passes over the sensor. The Polar Power Output Sensor also has built-in cadence and speed sensors. The information is then transmitted to the heart-rate monitor, which is mounted on a bracket on the handlebars.
