Why Do We Use Artificial Sweeteners?
The maltodextrine (carbohydrate) used in EnergySource is a long- chain glucose polymer and is not sweet. To achieve an acceptable level of sweetness and taste, we rely on fructose (fruit sugar) and a low level of Aspartame and Acesulfame-K. We cannot remove the artificial sweeteners from EnergySource, simply by adding more fructose, as a higher level of fructose can lead to gastric distress in some sensitive athlete.Tthe level of aspartame found in energysource in less than 1/10 the level found in diet cola.
Phenylketonurics: For those athletes sensitive to Aspartame (phenylalanine), we recommend EnergySource Neutral which can be flavoured with fruit juice or cordial type concentrates. |
