Features

Activity Tracking

Fitbit makes every step you take a step toward better fitness, even on your busiest days. Fitbit Ultra's super-sensitive 3D motion sensor tracks your day down to details a pedometer can't catch, showing your exact steps taken, calories burned and distance travelled.

The new altimeter tracks floors climbed by stairways so you can monitor this heart-healthy activity, encouraging you to take the stairs at home or work or climb a little further on your next hike.

Sleep Tracking

We all know solid sleep is hugely important to well-being and weight loss. But until now the question has been just how do you track sleep? The answer is the Fitbit Tracker. Slip your Tracker into the Fitbit sleep wristband before bed and it will keep a watchful eye as you slumber. When your info uploads to Fitbit.com, you'll see not only how long you sleep but how well you sleep. The Tracker monitors how many times and how long you wake up during the night. Over time, you can apply what you learn to give you a better understanding what helps you sleep better.

Advantages

I bought the Fitbit 3 weeks ago and am very impressed with it. Ittook just a couple of minutes to set up my account on the computer and pair it with the device.

I p ut it in pocket and went out for the day and when I came back the Fitbit paired wirelessly with my PC to show how active I have been.

I downloaded the iPhone app so I could add food when I was out for the day and keep a log of calories consumed.

When you get used to it, you will find yourself parking a bit further away from your destination so you can get the extra exercise in and thinking about what you are putting in your body via your mouth.

You can choose what rate you want to lose the weight from 0.25 to 2 lb a week and the software will work out how many calories a day you are allowed.

I feel the best feature is that the software works out how active you have been, how much you have eaten and then lets you know how much you can eat for the rest of the day.

I put in my plan to lose 2 lb a week and have lost 6 lb so far just by walking everywhere and watching my food intake.

Disadvantages

Obviously the Fitbit costs quite a bit of money but I don’t think the price is too high considering what you would pay for gym membership, if you log everything as you eat/exercise then you have a 24/7 personnel trainer/dietician.
