Exped SynMat 7 cm Camping Mat inc Integrated Pump

The Exped Synmat 7 Sleeping Mat offers the same comfort, weight and compact packed size as the DownMats but although it is not as warm, it does boast an ingenious integrated pump for quick inflation.

The Exped SynMat 7 Sleeping Mat represents great value for money since the synthetic filling is cheaper than down and the warmth-to-weight ratio of the SynMat is superior when compared to regular mats.

The synthetic filling of the Exped SynMat 7 Sleeping Mat is laminated to both the top and the bottom of the fabric, which eliminates the loss of loft (thickness) common to synthetic-filled sleeping bags.

As with the DownMats, testing of the Exped SynMats was carried out at EMPA.

• Synmat 7 offers heat-resistance value of 4.9 (standard 2.5-cm self-inflating mat only offers an R-value of 2)
• EMPA tests demonstrated that regular mats lose 3 times more heat to cold ground than to air
• Conclusion: Warmer mat is more important than warmer sleeping bag
