Bringing together tools from the BCA snow study range, the BCA Snow Study Kit Bag + Tools has everything you need to perform detailed analysis of a slope or glacier, including: crystal card, slope meter, digital thermometer, 6x magnifying loupe, and all help together in a hard wearing and organised kit bag. Also available is the kit bag minus tools.
Crystal Card - An aide memoire for measuring snow crystal sizes and types, enabling detailed snowpack analysis. It includes 1, 2 and 3 mm grid boxes as well as aides for snow classification, compression test scores, shovel shear test scores, and Rutschblock tests. There is also a handy punched hole to attach a length of cord for easy transportation.
Slope Meter - For taking the guesswork out of gradient measures. Using a ball bearing suspended in oil, the inclinometer uses gravity to precisely indicate slope angle, with the most dangerous angles marked in red on a graduated scale. For accurate results rest the inclinometer on a flat surface, e.g. a ski pole, parallel to the slope.
Digital Thermometer - Lightweight thermometer probe with easy to read digital display. Giving a temperature range of -50 to +200°C the thermometer is fully calibratable.
6x Magnifying Loupe - Ideal for use with the crystal card, the 6x loupe gives powerful magnification to help identify snow crystal size and type.
A protective thermo-moulded case includes the following items:
