The days when swords were used in battle may be long past, but Her Majesty's Royal Air Force still demands the very finest for those worn by its officers on ceremonial occasions.
Our miniature sword is a detailed replica (1:3 scale approx) of the sword carried today by officers of the Royal Air Force.
Adopted by the Air Ministry in 1925, Royal Air Force swords of this design are carried by RAF Commissioned Officers.
Both the original and our replica feature the closed gothic gold-plated hilt and a back-piece surmounted with a eagle head pommel. The grip on the original would have been white fish-skin wrapped with a gilt wire. The original sword would be supplied with a scabbard made of rawhide with gold-plated brass mounts, while officers of Air Rank and above, carry a version on which the mounts would be engraved with greater intricate detail.
Length 12". Comes in presentation box.
