Ice Tools are used in more difficult configurations of ice climbing.
Traditional Ice Tools have a leash so have the ability to let the climber rest by putting their weight onto the leash. However, leashes can often be hard to remove when necessary.
Leashless Ice Tools offer more freedom of movement and have a grip that is canted away from the main-shaft making them much easier to grip.
