How it works

1. GPS satellites provide coordinates
   
2. SPOT messenger’s onboard GPS chip determines your exact coordinates and sends your location and message to the SPOT satellite system
   
3. SPOT commercial satellites relay your message to specific satellite antennas around the world
   
4. Satellite antennas and supporting equipment route your message and location to the appropriate network
   
5. Your message is delivered according to your instructions via text message, email or emergency notification via the response centre

Coverage

The SPOT Satellite Personal Tracker works around the world covering land and ocean, including virtually all of North America, Europe and Australia, portions of South America, Northern Africa and Northeastern Asia and hundreds of miles offshore of these areas.

• Power ON, unused: approx. 1 year
• SPOTcasting tracking mode: approx. 14 days

When SPOT sends a text or email message to one of your contacts or to a GEOS International 9-1-1 Emergency Response Centre, it includes your exact
coordinates and a web link to view your location using Google Maps.

Unlimited SPOT Basic Service includes the following services:

• ALERT 9-1-1: Dispatch emergency responders to your exact location. Unlimited usage included.

• CHECK IN: Let contacts know where you are and that you’re okay. Unlimited usage included.

• ASK FOR HELP: Request help from friends and family at your exact location. Unlimited usage included.

Unlimited Tracking Service

Save and review your progress, or allow anyone with access to your account information can log on and view your route, complete with virtual views provided by Google Maps. Tracking service, also known as SPOTcasting acquires and sends your GPS coordinates to your SPOT account every 10 minutes for up to 24 hours or until cancelled.
