Accapi Testimonials

< Back

Accapi has brought together athletes from a wide range of disciplines including runners, rowers, climbers, mountaineers, cyclists, motorcyclists – all of whom compete at the highest level and demand maximum performance from their clothing and equipment.

By using Accapi nexus products, these athletes are able to train harder, longer, and recover faster.

Will Fletcher

Will Fletcher is the 2010 U23 World Rowing Champion after winning the Lightweight Mens 4 Gold in Brest, Belarus in July 2010.

"When using Accapi, I feel much more on top of my sport. I do believe I get the most benefit in my recovery because usually, after a heavy weights or ergo session I feel tired and I ache, however when I am wearing Nexus I find that the next day I feel refreshed and ready for another session."

Lucy O'Connor

Lucy O'Connor is an Officer in the Royal Navy who currently boxes internationally for England and Great Britain. For the last 4 years she's been ranked number 1 in Great Britain, number 3 in Europe and number 5 in the World. With the recent announcement to include female boxing in the Olympic Games in 2012 she is currently striving to continue to hold her number 1 spot and represent her country at the Olympics.

"I have found that I can recover more effectively between sessions and I believe I achieve more from myself during sessions, particularly during threshold training. "

"In particular I have noted a significant recovery effect during my pre-season power development. At this time in the season I begin my weight training programme, given the nature of this session and the traumatic damage to muscle tissue it induces, I suffer terribly from Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS) in the early season. I have been using the Accapi clothing post weight training sessions this season and have noted a significant reduction in DOMS for which I am hugely grateful!!!."

Matt Stephens

Matthew Stephens was successful as a junior rider, winning the Junior Tour of Wales in both 1987 and 1988, one of only two riders to win the race twice. He represented Great Britain at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

After trialling Accapi Nexus both during and after training, he had the following to say:

"The comfort and fit of the garments is second to none- I wear them each time I have finished a training session of high intensity and/or endurance. Although I think the benefits will be more noticeable when I begin the my next training block. I can certainly feel 'something' going on that is a positive benefit- more so to my legs."

"Normally after a hard, high intensity turbo session my legs ache in a certain way that I have become used to over the years. This 'ache' has now been reduced so much from wearing the bottoms that I wear them after every session. I think they will come into their own and be a real benefit when the racing begins- especially during stage races and back to back events."

"When I wear the garments the only way to describe the feeling is one of a comfortable, natural second skin with a very gentle strangely warming, subtly tingling sensation that at once relaxes, warms and cools. A post training pleasure to be honest."

Andy Earl

A qualified sports scientist, Andy is the British Climbing Team coach and also co-owner of Climb Newcastle, a dedicated bouldering facility in the north-east.

Andy says: “Although I’m relatively new to using Nexus products, I’ve been blown away by the recovery benefit that I have experienced so far.”

Suzan Dudink

Originally from Holland, Suzan began her sporting life as an athlete and after 10 years she now focuses exclusively on climbing. Suzan recently climbed the bouldering grade of Font 8a+, climbing the boulder problem Tea with Elmarie in South Africa, and in doing so becoming part of a select group of women to reach this standard worldwide. Suzan is also a first-class coach and runs ladies only events at Climb Newcastle. Nexus is proud to support Suzan's rehabilitation from a shoulder injury using the Nexus shoulder guard.

Suzan says: “As I’ve begun to use Nexus clothing my clear impression is that it helps me recover much faster. The women’s fit t-shirts in the Action range are an excellent fit – very much a second skin.”

Stevie Haston

Stevie Haston is a veteran climbing athlete, who's standards in some disciplines are extremely high. He has snowboarded mountains in the Himalayas as well as putting up rock climbs in many countries. He has soloed up to 80 routes in the Alps including a remarkable free winter solo of the Walker Spur, and has pushed the level of ice and mixed climbing for many years. He is described as one of the best all-rounders in the world.

"I was sceptical, but this product does work. I have no understanding of how Nexus works, in fact I don't care. I am just happy as a person who trains very hard and needs every bit of help, that it does work. The Bodyguard supports are a major assett and work very quickly on me. The clothing is more subtle in it's relief and also produces a feeling of calm in me, very welcome to someone who is often irritable and tired. The clothing is smart and athletic looking with a good cut that doesn't inhibit movement, it's nice to wear, even over prolonged periods. A big thumbs up from me!"

Barry Jameson

Barry has competed as a triathlete for 19 years. This follows a successful running career racing against Olympic, European and monwealth Gold Medallists. His achievements as a runner are P.B's which include 10km - (30.17), 10 miles (52.00), and half marathon (01.07.00). Barry realised triathlon could provide him with his next sporting challenge after finishing 1st in his first triathlon competition.

In September 2009, Barry ruptured his achilles. After scan results predicted he would never compete at that level again he tried the Nexus Pro Ankle Guard and remarkably, 2-3 weeks later he was able to re-commence light training which progressed in just a matter of 12 weeks to full gym, swim and bike training. Since then Barry has become an ambassador for the Nexus range but the story doesn't end there.

On the 14th February 2010, Barry was involved in a cycling accident which left him with a broken Femur (the Femur is the longest and largest bone in the human body which forms part of the hip and part of the knee)  He was rushed to hospital and operated on at around 9.30am on Monday 15th.

Following Barry's operation he was advised he would have to use a wheelchair and crutches for anything up to 16 weeks and full mobility could take longer. He began using crutches immediately and did so for roughly 2 weeks until the operating wound had healed over. At this point he adapted a Nexus Back Support from the Bodyguard range into a recovery aid by strapping it around the top of his left leg and hip.

By the end of week 3 following the operation; determined as ever, Barry returned to the gym to try some light exercise. Over the next 2 weeks he continued with this, gradually progressing each day.

In week 5, Barry had an appointment with his surgeon who was looking to assess his recovery, this involved having another X-Ray. When the results arrived the surgeon called for a colleague to have a look as he was simply amazed! The break had healed completely and at at 57 years old, Barry had defied all odds. He had healed at the rate that would be expected of a fit and healthy young adult. The surgeon suggested Barry should try and wean himself off crutches completely and advised he would not need to see him again until the end of August.

8 weeks later, incredibly, Barry was able to swim, cycle, run and train in the gym again! He commented:

"I am now back to training everyday and I am still using the back guard on my leg as it is dramatically improving the recovery of soft tissue damage around the injury. I am an avid fan of the Nexus range from Accapi and truly believe it has had a large impact on the astonishing recovery I have made to date. I run a coaching business called tri4u and am recommending the Accapi products to all my athletes who want the best from their clothing in performance and recovery and also to any athletes who have sustained injuries."

Alan Hinks

Alan Hinkes is the first Briton to climb the world's highest mountains. These are the 14 x 8000m peaks, all of which are in the 'death zone' where human survival rate is measured in hours. They are the most dangerous mountains on the planet. Alan is part of an exclusive club of only 12 people alive who have achieved this feat, which is also, astonishingly the same number of people who have stood on the moon. Many have perished attempting this challenge.

Alan now wears nexus and gave the following comments after a few weeks of trialling an extensive range of kit:

"Having now spent some time wearing the Nexus garments from Accapi I can honestly say that I can feel something good happening. Although it doesn't provide me with a quick or instant fix like a big fat cappucino or a stiff drink would, the effect is continuous which is proving to be a big benefit to me."

Zac Purchase

Zac Purchase, Olympic Gold Medallist recently trialled Nexus and reported that he personally felt 100% positive towards the Nexus product development.

"Every elite athlete pushes and strives for that 0.1% marginal gain to make a winning difference; I believe Nexus gave me that. During my 3 week trial of the product I benefitted from:
* a 1-3% performance increase of mass lifted during strength training sessions
* An improvement in performance, both on and off the water
* Improved quality & a more restful sleep
* Feeling more relaxed during recovery

When I stopped wearing Nexus it felt like something was missing. I am excited to continue with the products and am sure the positive impact I have seen in my training will continue and carry through to competition."

Here are some Testimonials from other customers that have purchased Accapi Nexus products:

M Yass:
"Load bearing and strenuous exercise was painful for me, so I visited the doctor. In the course of the examination he diagnosed severe Mentiritis of the Maleficium region in my neck. Effective treatment of this is difficult but he recommended I try Nexus supports. Suffice to say, the pain is gone and I now use it as a training and recovery aid."

K.Spencer:
"I need to be on my feet a lot, the Accapi ankle guard has managed to achieve what very considerable other attention to a problem has failed to do. A damaged ankle, then too much walking at the wrong time has taken me three years to discover there is a way to escape pain. Physiotherapy sessions did not get me the relief I found over the weekend.....my first time using the Accapi ankle guard. Several hours of being on my feet resulted in an evening without soreness, swelling and pain experienced in the past."

J.Griffith:
“I have a chronic knee problem with advanced arthritis. In short I will soon require joint replacement surgery. In desperation recently on a visit to Scotland, I purchased the Knee Guard in a sports shop. I was in discomfort at the time and had forgotten to bring my usual elastic support. I put it on immediately and soon experienced an unexpected degree of relief. I found that I could also leave it in place for much longer that any similar product that I had previously used. I now use it daily when I am working for long periods on my feet, or cycling. I will shortly purchase another. I don't really understand the technology and I am not saying it is a "magic" remedy, but it certainly helps me in my situation and all my other supports have been discarded in its favour."

I.Twaddle:
"I had been experiencing a noticeable level of discomfort in my hamstrings, particularly at the start of my training sessions and when I was not exercising. I heard about the Nexus range from Accapi and began wearing the Pro Trousers and Cycle Shorts both during and after exercise. In just 3 weeks, I have noticed a big improvement which I am very grateful for. I am able to train, perform and recover without feeling any 'niggles'. I recently took part in a running race and while I was apprehensive to start, by wearing my Accapi I was able to perform much better than I had expected. I would recommend the Nexus range to anyone and will be continuing to wear it not only during my training and sport but also for recovery."

P.Newson:
"I started running and had a problem with my knee. I read about the Nexus range and thought it might be worth a try. just days after I started wearing the knee guard, the pain and swelling in my knee had gone, it was amazing, I'm recommending these products to everyone."

S.Hubball:
“I am very pleased indeed with my Nexus products – the knee supports (Pro Tech Knee Guard) are brilliant, and so comfortable I can wear them all day. Also, they do not ruffle up and I can wear them for cycling. They also look quite cool! The Action Knee Support is also great to sleep in and stays in position and you don’t know you are wearing it. I was able to bike for 5 consecutive days in the Alps which is a great leap forward for me with my knee problems.”

A.Halewood:
"I was a bit sceptical about this at first but having broken my ankle 6 months ago and exercised on it since then despite it poor healing I was willing to try anything once. The support provided excellent relief- I'm even running for the first time in months!"

J.Bell:
"Super product - having used all sorts of compression and performance leggins to aid reduction of knee swelling whilst performing snow sport: these have actually worked. Recent 10 day ski trip, no swelling after big days and high stress that norm sees upto 30ml swelling on my dodgy knee. Super impressed, will be getting a pair of full length tights for wearing as recovery pant after sport too!! Well done on a product that does what it says on the tin and more!!"
